Haptic Printing

Here at Astek we've always prided ourselves on being forward-thinking and technology-driven. In our current tech endeavor, Astek has been experimenting with Haptic printing, a technique that allows us to print raised surfaces to create dimensional wallcoverings. With Haptic we're able to mimic the look and feel of embossed patterns and even brushstrokes in fine artwork.

Astek is the first to company to use dimensional printing in this way in the United States.

Bookcase Wallpaper W Hotel, Washington D.C.

Astek designer, Kerry Hyatt created this custom bookcase wallpaper for the W Hotel in Washington D.C. for their studio pre-function room. The design is inspired by Washington’s judiciary system with numerous volumes of famous legal cases interspersed with contemporary design and pop culture books. Printed on our silver mylar material, this design gets added flare due to the lustrous, metallic finish. This pattern is available for print in our design library.

Printed Granite for The Line Hotel

Recently opened, The Line Hotel in the up and coming Koreatown district of Los Angeles features our digitally printed concrete murals side by side with the refurbished concrete walls of the original structure. Our faux concrete is showcased on the back wall of every guest room and was matched from the actual concrete on either side of the room. Looking at the photos here you would never know they were printed!

River Place Hotel

When interior designer Gino Castano needed a custom wallcovering crafted from scratch he knew he could turn to Astek to handle the job. We created this pattern of hand-drawn elements with color and texture added digitally. The finished repeat is a full 8 feet across and was printed on our textured Type II substrate Palisades. This was installed at the River Place Hotel in Portland Oregon.

Tenaya Lodge - Yosemite CA

Inspired by the local Sierra Nevada mountains, the Puccini Group looked to Astek for a custom wallcovering to bring their vision to life. We started with a hand sketched mountain range and had it printed on our Type II canvas substrate Bermuda. All of the suites for this property feature this original and illustrative wallcovering.

Hotel Zero Degrees

Studio East contracted our design studio to create numerous custom murals for the Hotel Zero Degrees in Norwalk Connecticut. All guest room murals were printed on our Type II substrate Spectre. An impressive geometric mural was created for their restaurant Mediterraneo that features larger-than-life bold geometric shapes layered with subtle textures.

Agile 360

The design firm Interior Architects wanted custom window graphics that could give the Agile 360 offices a dynamic and vibrant feel while providing privacy for offices and conference rooms.
